Seat Belt for Forklifts

Forklift Seat Belts - Described in the Regulation guidelines are the use of seatbelts and operator restraints on forklifts. It says that the liability falls on the employers' to ensure that every machinery, piece of equipment and tool is utilized correctly used in accordance to the directions of the producer.

Regarding their inspection, fabrication, use, design and maintenance Rough Terrain forklifts need to satisfy the regulations of ANSI Standard ASME B56.6-1992.

Mobile machines such as side boom tractors along with a Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS), have to include seat belts that meet the Society of Automotive Engineers safety requirements; Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J386 JUN93, Operator Restraint System for Off-Road Work Machines. If any mobile machine includes seat belts required by law, the driver and subsequent passengers must make sure they use the belts whenever the motor vehicle is in motion or engaged in operation since this can cause the equipment to become unstable and therefore, not safe.

The restraint device or system can comprise a seat belt, even though a seat belt is not necessarily a part of such device or system.
